English - Key reading, writing, grammar, comprehension, spelling and language skills taught through a wide variety of genres (Balanced arguments, playscripts, biographies, autobiographies, performance poetry, instructions, explanations)


Maths - Revision of key calculations and applying all mathematical knowledge to solve word problems, gaining a mastery of each area


Whole-Class Novel - Wonder by R.J.Palacio


Science - Living Things and Their Habitats / Evolution and Inheritance


PE - Cricket, Athletics, Rounders, Orienteering, Tennis


RE - The Easter Story, Islam


ICT - Coding and Key Skills


History - Ancient Egyptians


Geography - Africa, Fair Trade, Climate Change


Art - Traditional African Art


Design and Technology - Egyptian masks


Music - Singing / tuned instruments (keyboards)


PSHE - Sex Education / Transition to Secondary School / British Values


French - Revision of key vocabulary including numbers to 100

Important Information



Year 6 have PE every TUESDAY and THURSDAY. This will change throughout the year so please keep checking back for updates!


Please ensure your children have their PE kits in school on Tuesdays:

  • Yellow PE shirt (COMPULSORY)
  • Black shorts (COMPULSORY)
  • Black pumps (COMPULSORY)
  • Trainers for when we're lucky enough to do PE outside (OPTIONAL)
  • Outdoor bottoms/jacket (OPTIONAL)
  • All jewellery is to be removed before every PE session and long hair is expected to be tied back.



Wednesday due in Friday - Maths 

Friday due in Wednesday - English

The children receive two pieces of homework a week in Year 6 to prepare them for Secondary School. Children are also expected to read daily and learn their spellings/times-tables.

If children do not complete their homework, they are to do it in their own time in school.
