Spring Term Home Learning 2021
Sadly, with the rise in COVID-19 cases, we once again need to move to home learning. Please see the links below that will take you to our planned activities each week.
We will be posting video tutorials to help aid the children in their learning to the best of our ability. We know this no way replaces face-to-face learning. Please contact us via our Class Dojo page if you are having any difficulties, or alternatively, ring the school office. Keep safe and keep being the superstars you are.
*Spring Term - What are we learning?*
English - Key reading, writing, grammar, comprehension, spelling and language skills taught through a wide variety of text-types (adventure stories, explanation texts, play scripts, newspaper reports, poetry, historical stories etc...)
Maths - Revision of all learning in Autumn Term as well as: multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and percentages
Whole-Class Novels - Sharna Jackson - High Rise Mystery / Onjali Q.Rauf - The Boy At The Back Of The Class
Science - Earth and Space / Forces
PE - Health-Related Fitness (circuits etc.) / Swimming / Tag Rugby / Orienteering
History - The Space Race / The Swinging Sixties
Geography - Where In The World? (Revision of continents, oceans, time zones, climate zones etc...)
ICT - Coding (SAMLABS - making and programming a Space Buggy), key skills, internet safety
Art - Claude Monet and developing watercolour skills
Design and Technology - Design and make a space buggy using wheels and axles
British Values - Democracy
RE - Jewish Worship and Community
PSHE - Dreams and Goals
French - Key vocabulary revision (numbers to 60, common greetings etc.), school subjects, French celebrities, Cultural Study - Claude Monet
Music - Keyboards and singing
Year 5 will have PE every TUESDAY afternoon. Swimming will begin on Thursday 14th January 2021 although this is subject to change due to new national rules.
Please ensure your children have the following PE kit items every PE day:
- Yellow PE shirt (COMPULSORY)
- Black shorts (COMPULSORY)
- Black pumps (COMPULSORY)
- Trainers for when we're lucky enough to go outside (OPTIONAL)
- Outdoor bottoms / jacket (OPTIONAL)
- All jewellery is to be removed before every PE session and long hair is expected to be tied back.
Year 5 will receive homework every Monday which will be due in the following Monday.
The homework will consist of practising key mathematical calculations, times tables, spellings and reading. There may also be added information on the types of things we will be looking at the following week.
If children do not complete their homework, they will be expected to do it in their own time within school hours.
