Welcome back to school and welcome to Year 2! Mrs Abernethy, Miss Fell and I have been busy getting everything ready for you. We hope you have had a fantastic summer holiday. We are looking forward to a fun-filled year of learning!
If you ever have any questions or would like to talk about your child's learning, please feel free to contact me.
Reading at home is essential for your child's development and ability to learn. Children who read regularly at home are much more likely to make better progress than those who don't. To support your child, please listen to them read regularly (even if it is for just 5 minutes!)
Spellings will be given to your child each Monday. It is important that your child reads through these and practises them. This will help their reading and writing skills a lot.
Our P.E. sessions are Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons. The Tuesday morning session will be swimming lessons for the school year. This half term we are developing our agility, balance and coordination in Gymnastics sessions on Thursday afternoons.
All children must wear a change of clothing for P.E. Please ensure your child has their kit every day to cater for timetable changes. Please name all clothing and use a soft bag to store P.E. clothes.
- Our P.E. kit is as follows:
- Black shorts
- Yellow T-shirt with school logo
- Plimsoles – COMPULSORY
- Trainers – OPTIONAL (for outdoor games)
- Football boots (for outdoor games)
- Black training pants – OPTIONAL (for outdoor games)
- Swimming costume (trunks for boys - no bermuda/shorts style)
