We have been learning about lots of exciting new methods to solve problems in maths recently - from bar models to missing number problems as well as using inverse operations! In English, we have been looking at different word classes (nouns, verbs and adjectives), grammar and using correct punctuation. We have learned how important it is to check our writing makes sense too.
In other subjects, we are currently learning about the Moon Landings for history and about Animals (including humans) for science. We are linking our current dance lessons to animal movement. Year 2 have some good movers!
If you ever have any questions or would like to talk about your child's learning, please feel free to contact me.
Reading at home is essential for your child's development and ability to learn. Children who read regularly at home are much more likely to make better progress than those who don't. To support your child, please listen to them read regularly (even if it is for just 5 minutes!)
Spellings will be given to your child each Monday. It is important that your child reads through these and practises them. This will help their reading and writing skills a lot.
Extra (optional) homework is also always available each week. This can be found in our class cloakroom in a folder on the wall.
Our P.E. sessions are Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons. The Tuesday morning session will be swimming lessons for the school year. This half term we are developing our agility, balance and coordination in dance sessions on Thursday afternoons.
All children must wear a change of clothing for P.E. Please ensure your child has their kit every day to cater for timetable changes. Please name all clothing and use a soft bag to store P.E. clothes.
